Make A Difference

HELP PROVIDE MORE KIDS WITH A SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE

There is something magical about summer camp that every child needs and deserves. Our staff role models provide kids with important social development and life lessons critical to their development. However, many families – for a variety of reasons – do not have the means to provide a summer camp experience for their kids.

You can maximize your impact on kids in our community now more than ever. The Spier Family has announced a summer camp challenge and will match every donation between July 31st and August 14th up to $25,000. With your help and the support from the Spier Family, we look forward to raising $50,000 to provide more kids an opportunity to experience their best summer ever at camp this August.

Our Y is committed to strengthening community and ensuring everyone regardless of ability to pay has the opportunity to thrive. This is our mission and our cause. And with your help another great example of our Y being a place where cause meets community. Together we can make a difference in the lives of local kids and families this summer.

Make Your Gift Today!

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Celebration

On June 13th we gathered for our annual LIVESTRONG at the YMCA event celebrating the impact of this powerful program for cancer survivors and their families. To date, 765 cancer survivors have participated in the program since 2010. We also celebrated our new Living STRONGER program for LIVESTRONG at the YMCA alumni.

Please watch our video sharing highlights of the event, a strong example of community coming together to support and lift each other up.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free 12-week program designed for cancer survivors seeking to regain health, build strength, and connect with other cancer survivors.

Click here to read more about the impact of our LIVESTRONG program in our 2016 Impact Report.

Thank you for your support of our YMCA. Best wishes for a wonderful summer.

Ready for Summer Camp?

MEET ME AT THE Y
FOR THE BEST SUMMER EVER!

Summer Camp is here! All of our plans and preparations are in full swing so that all campers will have their best summer ever. To help, here is some guidance for parents about what we suggest kids bring to camp (and what they leave at home). In addition, for your convenience, we have included a link to our camp handbooks.

PLEASE label all items – including lunch

» Foxboro Camp Handbook

» Franklin Camp Handbook

» North Attleboro Camp Handbook

Suggested Items for All Camps

When preparing for a camp day, it’s helpful to remember how active kids are at camp. They need to be comfortable and to have a few food options:

Comfortable Clothes to move and play in. Campers will get messy so consider bringing a change of clothing
Swimsuit & Towel – if you are participating in a camp that has swim time
Closed Toe Shoes (No Sandals or Flip Flops Please)
Water Shoes – if your camper does not want wet sneakers (Toes need to be covered)
Sweatshirt or Light Jacket for cool or damp days
Lunch, Snacks, & Drinks.
Please be sure to provide choices that are healthy, fulfilling, and non-perishable (there is no refrigeration at camp). Children will eat and drink more than usual because they are so active throughout the day. Half-Day campers will need snacks and drinks only.
Water Bottles with Water (no glass please)
Sunscreen and Bug Repellent.
A Bag to carry your belongings and a plastic bag for wet clothes

Suggested Items for Rainy Days

On bad-weather days, it’s a good idea to send a little extra to camp. It helps keep them comfortable if we get stuck out in the weather:

Raincoat or Poncho
Umbrella
Extra shoes/socks
Changes of clothes (including underwear)

What NOT to bring to Camp

PLEASE leave valuable personal items at home.

Campers should not bring or wear any valuable, personal articles such as expensive footwear, watches, jewelry, phones, personal music devices, electronic games, trading cards, key chains, toys, etc. Children are not permitted to use these items at camp. Do not bring sporting equipment unless it is approved by the camp counselors and/or to be used at a specialty sports camp. The Hockomock Area YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

There’s a summer camp for every kid.

If your child is a budding actor or athlete, a gymnast or outdoor adventurer, there’s a Y camp they will love. We offer part-day and full-day camps for all ages, including preschoolers and teens.

Reach Out for Youth and Families Breakfast 2017

We recently held our annual Breakfast at Gillette Stadium to kick off our 2017 Reach Out For Youth and Families Campaign. All of our Y’s programs and services are available to everyone in the community regardless of their ability to pay. The incredible support we receive from our friends and neighbors through this campaign makes our mission possible.

Last year our Y awarded $2.1 million in confidential scholarships and program subsidies. Please watch our video sharing highlights of the event, a shining example of community coming together to support each other.

Thank you for your support of our YMCA.

Sincerely,
