Technology Club & Computer Lab

GET AHEAD WITH OUR NEW TECHNOLOGY LAB & TECHNOLOGY CLUB

Thanks to a generous donation from a good friend, a technology lab has been created at our Franklin Y.

The goal of this space is to teach middle school and high school students about careers in technology.

Join us for an upcoming Technology Club Meeting! Our monthly meetings happen from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at our Franklin Y.

This is a free Y member & community opportunity.

This club introduces students to the benefits of a career in the technology field and provides a safe place to learn and prepare for a job in technology.

The academic year’s meeting dates are September 11, October 23, November 13, January 22, February 12, March 19, April 23, May 21 and June 18. All taking place from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at our Bernon Family Branch.

Y members must pre-register online here or call the Franklin Y’s Member Service Desk at 508-528-8708.

Community members and non Y members pre-register by calling 508-528-8708. Space is limited.

Our September meeting’s agenda is Python Coding. Did you know Python programming skill is one of the most sought after scripting languages available today? Many of the internet’s most popular services run on Python: Google, Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, Quora, Netflix, Dropbox, Reddit and more! Students will focus on learning to program in Python on the Windows PCs provided in the YMCA lab. As part of the class students will have hands-on instruction on the programming process from application design, coding, compiling and loading the final application on the devices available. Any adults wanting to learn and make a career change are welcome to join as well.
