COMMUNITY GARDENS

Our community garden provides fresh, high-quality vegetables while bringing people together in a community project, not only for local families but also the YMCA's healthy foods initiatives.

EAT. GROW. THRIVE

We are proud of our collaboration with the town of Mansfield and other community partners to educate and involve the community in growing and learning about fresh produce. We promote healthy and active lifestyles by connecting individuals to the food they eat and grow.

The mission of the Community Garden is to educate and involve the community in growing and learning about fresh produce and to promote healthy and active lifestyles through reconnecting individuals to the food they eat and grow.

Our Mansfield Community Garden, located across the street from 386 Essex St in Mansfield, offers a CSA Share program for those interested in purchasing locally grown and freshly harvested organic produce weekly. We abstain from using pesticides and chemical fertilizers and follow organic practices.

We also offer community plot rentals and educational workshops throughout the season. We are always looking for volunteers to assist with all elements of the project. Please contact communitygarden@hockymca.org for more information on volunteer opportunities and other ways to get involved.

We also have community gardens at our Hockomock Area YMCA branches where staff educate and involve campers and volunteers to grow and learn about fresh produce. The produce grown is sold in branch lobbies as well as donated to local food pantries.
