Arts & Enrichment at Hockomock Area YMCA
The Hockomock Area YMCA's Arts and Enrichment program reaches people of all ages: preschool, school age, teens, and adults. No matter what your interests are, we've got you covered, with a huge variety of programs!
Mini Camps: We offer mini-day camps for children ages 3-6. These are described on each branch's Arts & Enrichment page and are held in the mornings in July and August.
Arts: These classes help to advance your child's use of art elements, explore a variety of basic art materials, and create hands-on arts and crafts projects. Research has shown that participation in arts-based programs leads to enhanced student achievement both in school and in life. Visit our Hockomock YMCA Arts Center for more options for arts-based programming.
Pottery: We offer pottery classes for ages 5 and older. Children will learn the basic techniques of pottery and get to fire and glaze their masterpieces to take home!
Drama: Our popular youth theatre program offers 5 full-performance opportunities throughout the year for ages 7-14. Our shows are performed at off-site venues with full lights, sound, costumes, sets and props. Classes are available starting at age 5.
Cooking: All of our cooking classes teach children about kitchen safety, good eating habits, and how to prepare healthy, delicious snacks and meals for their families!
Music: Our music classes are geared towards toddlers and their parents. Both parents and their children will learn new songs, as well as popular songs, use creative movement while singing and dancing, and learn some finger play.
Dance: Programming for boys and girls in various dance styles. Classes are designed to give quality dance instruction in a fun and enjoyable learning environment. If you are unsure of the class your child should take, please ask us!
Science: Each Science class focuses on children doing simple experiments and exploring different science topics.
Toddler: Children in our Toddler classes learn socialization, are exposed to music, singing, finger play, parachute play, story time, and lots of moving around and exercising on bright and soft equipment.
