"Building a Bright Future through Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility" is our theme for 2007. Primary areas of program focus include arts and education, the Hockomock Area YMCA Integration Initiative, active adults, and youth and family obesity and disease prevention.
Our 2007 operating budget is $14.6 million. In 2006, we had 1,141 employees, 98 full-time staff, 967 part-time staff, and 76 seasonal staff.
In 2006, 751 program and policy volunteers broke a record for service hours dedicated to our Association. They contributed 21,521 hours of their time to Hockomock Area YMCA programs, services, and activities.
The total number of 2006 summer campers was 3,054, and 890 camp scholarships (totaling $143, 615) were awarded to kids in our communities.
The Bernon Family Branch recently received a $150,000 grant from Metrowest Community Health Care Foundation that provides three years of funding toward our "Healthy Futures: Creating Positive Lifestyles for Youth and Families Through Community Collaboration" program.
In 2006, $823,000 in confidential scholarship assistance and program subsidy was awarded to individuals, kids, and families for Hockomock Area YMCA programs, services, and activities.
Since 1993, the Hockomock Area YMCA has provided more than $6 million in confidential scholarship assistance and program subsidy.
In 2006, the innovative Ropes Challenge Course "Temaing Program" at the North Attleboro and Franklin branches served more than 4,000 participants, including junior high school students from eigth different area school districts.
The Hockomock Area YMCA primarily serves the communities of Bellingham; Mansfield; North Attleboro; Cumberland, RI; Medway; Plainville; Foxboro; Milford; Sharon; Franklin; Millis; Walpole; Hopedale; Norfolk; and Wrentham.
The Hockomock Area YMCA's largest philanthropic gift was received in 2006 from the Robert and Myra Kraft Charitable Foundation in the amount of $1,000,000 for the Foxboro Capital Campaign.
The YMCA operates skateboard parks for community youth in North Attleboro and Franklin.
The Association is committed to the YMCA of the USA's national Activate America public health initiative that is making healthy living a reality for millions of Americans.
